Cold Case Review
Sometimes,
despite the diligent and thorough work of investigators and forensic
laboratories there are cases that remain unsolved, and become 'cold
cases'. This can be due to many reasons: from lack of information on
the crime event itself, to unsatisfactory or partial results from
forensic laboratories, despite their best efforts.
Defence Forensics UK can help in such cases by aiding investigators, legal
practitioners, victims of crime and their families in providing new
lines of investigation that may not have been previously explored.
Defence
Forensics can review case file data, including police reports,
investigator reports / data, crime scene reports and photographs,
forensic laboratory standard operating procedures (SOP) and forensic
laboratory reports in order to identify areas that may benefit from
further attention. We are also able to offer re-testing of exhibits
that have been previously examined to ensure that all the available
evidence has been retreived from each exhibit.
The
point, and level, of involvement in any specific case will be
determined by the client and the nature of the case. In all cases
Defence Forensics UK will provide as much help with clearing up the
case as is possible. From a wide knowledge of forensic science and
related testing technologies, it may be as simple as identifying new
disciplines with which to tackle the problem.
