Crime Scene Investigation
Firstly,
Defence Forensics UK can re-visit crime scenes in order to determine
if the full extent of forensic evidence was visualised, recovered,
analysed and made available for consideration and interpretation. This
covers all forensic science disciplines, with a bias towards forensic
serology, biology and DNA testing procedures.
Secondly,
as well as re-visiting crime scenes to ensure all correct physical
evidence was made available for forensics and investigative use,
Defence Forensics UK is also able to provide a review of crime scene
data, forensic laboratory processes/ procedures, forensic laboratory
reports, photographs of the crime scene and all physical evidence
recovered, whether tested or not, to ensure that the most was made of
any physical evidence present at the scene relating to the offence, and
that the crime scene and evidence were correctly processed throughout,
including testing in the forensic laboratory.
From a detailed analysis
of the crime scene, evidence recovered and methods used to test them,
it is possible to generate strategy development for further avenues
that may not have been explored the first time around, that includes
testing or retesting of any items of evidence that were not originally
tested, but that may have important implications regarding the offence
in question.
